Some women need or want only support throughout birth. They are educated and know their birth plan well. For those moms, I offer birth only support. This includes email and phone support prenatally to finalize your birth plan, 24/7 on call labor support beginning on your 37th week of pregnancy until delivery, immediate postpartum support after birth, and email and phone support postpartum. I require one in person consultation to meet face to face to assure I am a good fit for your birth team.
While a birth plan is not a guarantee of what will happen during your birth, they can be a great tool for organizing your thoughts and feelings. A birth plan ensures you and your birth team are on the same page and everyone is aware of your wishes. Working with a birth professional on a birth plan also makes certain that you obtain full informed consent and are aware of your birth choices. A birth plan consultation is a 2-3 hour in home consultation. We will cover information regarding:
Routine childbirth practices in Oklahoma
How to increase chances of having the birth you envision
How to reduce chances of having a cesarean section
Options for a cesarean (Gentle cesareans, family centered cesarean, etc)
Pain management techniques and pharmaceutical pain management options
Positions for birth
Questions to ask your care provider
Information on VBAC and local hospital cesarean statistics
